Facebook Like, Recommend, Follow

Types of Facebook Buttons

Like & Recommend:

The Like and Recommend buttons on other sites let you express your interest in the content of that site to your friends with one click. In order for your action to appear on Facebook, you must be logged into Facebook at the time you click the button.

When you click Like or Recommend, the button turns darker to indicate your approval. Back on Facebook, a story will appear on your timeline and may appear in ticker and/or News Feed, just as if you liked something on Facebook.

Follow Us:

The Follow button lets other people follow your Facebook business page (i.e., they become a fan of your facebook page).

Like Box ("like our page"):

This is similar to "follow us" as it allows the people who click on it to like your facebook page from your website.

To generate the proper code:

To generate the code for a "like" or "recommend" button go here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/ Plug in your website URL and code will be auto generated to create a button for use on your site. When users click this button, they are liking your off-facebook content and their action will show up on their news feed, giving your site exposure to their friends.

To generate the code for a "follow us" button go here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/follow/ Plug in the url for the facebook page (e.g., https://www.facebook.com/pages/Lawrence-House-Funds/374576832663729?ref=ts&fref=ts) and the code for a "follow us" button will be auto-generated. When users click this button they will become fans of your facebook page.

To generate the code for a "like box" go here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like-box/ Plug in the url for the facebook page (e.g., https://www.facebook.com/pages/Lawrence-House-Funds/374576832663729?ref=ts&fref=ts) and the code for a "like box" will be auto-generated. When users click this they will become fans of your facebook page.
